Annual General Meeting - 24th April 2007
This community council held their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 24th April 2007 at Municipal Chambers, 15 Links Road, Prestwick.
AGMThe Chairperson (Pat Robertson), in her report, outlined the issues which have been dealt with over the past year and those which need to be tackled over the coming year.
Issues regarding the seafront have seen some improvements however a lot still needs to be done to make this a place where visitors would wish to come to laze away the day with their families. The damage to the sea wall and other areas of the esplanade, are being dealt with by South Ayrshire Council. The toilet situation, it is hoped, will soon be resolved. Cllr Toner’s persistence in matter has helped a great deal. Not only will the toilets at Mancini’s be opened on Links Road but also the ones at Burgh Road.
As for the coming year, many new issues will need to be tackled, including the demise of Prestwick’s historic character. Many old buildings are being replaced by new architecturally designed buildings. This in itself need not be a bad thing, however the character of the town needs to be preserved.
On the subject of the towns younger generation, work is ongoing concerning the Prestwick Euro Activities Park (PEAP). This park will be one of the foremost parks in Scotland. A facility that is fit for European competition. Although started by the community council, a new committee will be formed outwith to seek funding.
