At the Prestwick North Community Council monthly meeting held on Tuesday the 30th October 2007, the community councillors discussed various issues of interest within their boundaries.

Police Report

Police Constable Colin McBeth submitted the following report to the meeting:
Crimes committed during the period 1st October 2007 – 30th October 2007.

A total of 104 crimes reports were raised for the Prestwick area, of which 53 resulted in reports being sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Incidents of note:
Glenburn School was once again targeted over one weekend. Paint has been sprayed over the walls to the rear of the building.
Two golf courses have been hit with a spate of destruction. A number of greens have been vandalised.

South Ayrshire Council Report

Councillor Hugh Hunter advised that the parking survey for Prestwick is going out to consultants. This will also include a study into residential parking issues raised at the meeting.

A meeting is planned to discuss the issue of “Travellers”. Various measures will be looked at to ensure the car park at Prestwick seafront is not used again next summer.

Councillor Helen Moonie informed the meeting that Trading Standards are doing spot checks on retailers with regards the selling of certain items to school children.

Councillor Margaret Toner has had a few complaints regarding the trees at the Cross. A possible reduction of the trees from 7 to 4 may be the answer. What do the people of Prestwick think? Please let us know. E-mail happy129@hotmail.com of phone 01292 478437.
